ONCE YOU PASS YOUR EXAM
Once you have passed the NACRO exam you will receive notification from NSCDO which will outline the next steps required to be licensed and allow you to practice to the full scope of our provincial legislation. To pass the exam you will require a passing mark of 61% for eyeglasses and 67% for contact lenses.
You will be required to complete an Application for License or Registration as either a Dispensing Optician, New Candidate or Contact Lens Fitter, New Candidate. Part of the application is Certificate of Employer as proof you are employed and confirmation that you have Liability Insurance coverage, in the amount of one million dollars, as set by resolution, by the Nova Scotia College of Dispensing Opticians.
A fee is required in the amount of $200.00 as outlined in the Fee schedule.
